Escape features many excellent safety features including an Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).

Airbags

All Escape models feature driver and front passenger airbags while the Limited V6 model includes side airbags* for added protection.

Power & Performance

Choose your means of escape, with the choice of a V6 engine on the Escape XLT Sport V6 and Limited V6 or a 2.3L 4 cylinder engine on the XLS 2.3L and XLT 2.3L.

2.3L 4 cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing

The Escape XLS 2.3L and XLT 2.3L comes standard with a 2.3L 4 cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing. This engine produces 109kW of power and 199Nm of torque for economic driving.

3.0L Duratec V6 engine

The Escape XLT Sport V6 and Limited V6 comes standard with a 3.0L Duratec V6 engine. This engine boasts 152kW of power and 276Nm of torque for powerful performance.

The Ford Escape boasts a smooth 4-speed floor shift automatic transmission, 4-wheel independent suspension, front and rear disc brakes and 'On-demand 4WD' at the press of a button.

'On-demand 4WD'

Ford Escape's smart on-demand 4WD system is designed to work in two ways to allow for all types of conditions. During normal driving the vehicle works as a front wheel drive. But when the system detects a loss of traction, power is sent to all four wheels to maintain a surer grip on the driving surface. When the going gets really tough select the 4WD lock-up feature even while the vehicle's still moving, and you'll have the confidence to tackle particularly slippery off-road conditions.

The Escape features a 4 speed floor-shift automatic transmission as standard. This sleek transmission provides controlled and responsive power when you need it most.

Independent Front and Rear Suspension

The Ford Escape features MacPherson strut independent front suspension and Multi-Link independent rear suspension.

CD Player

The Ford Escape's audio system features a four speaker* AM/FM stereo with a six-disc in dash CD player for the XLT 2.3L, XLT Sport V6 and Limited V6. The XLS 2.3L features a single-disc in dash CD player.

Power Windows

Front and rear power windows are standard across the Escape range, with a one-touch down function on the driver's window and lock-out function for increased safety.

2nd Row Seat Recline

The Escape interior features rear seats that can recline to varying degrees. It means increased relaxation and a whole lot more comfort for those long journeys.
